Christina Aguilera: Snapshot
It was the battle of the ex-Mouseketeers: Christina Aguilera versus Britney Spears, both up for the 2000 Grammy for Best New Artist. Spears was the heavy favorite, but with her undeniably powerful voice, Aguilera won the award.

The pint-sized singer pulled away from the rest of her pop princess contemporaries with such hits as "Beautiful" and made eye-catching videos, including the one for "Dirrty," where a chaps- and bikini-clad Aguilera calls on backup dancers to get "just a little naughty." Her pin-up girl looks helped her land campaigns for Versace, M.A.C. and Skechers.

Offstage, Aguilera found love with executive Jordan Bratman, whom she married in 2005 and welcomed son Max in 2008. But in October 2010, the singer filed to end her nearly five-year marriage.

Christina Aguilera: Five Fun Facts
In 1992, Christina Aguilera belted out the national anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team and the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. The 11-year-old was the youngest person to perform the national anthem at a major sporting event at the time.
When Christina Aguilera was a member of The New Mickey Mouse Club in the mid-'90s, the other members nicknamed her "Diva."
Christina Aguilera has five tattoos: "Xtina" on the back of her neck; one above her left hip; one on her left wrist; "Te Amo Siempre" on her left elbow and a Hebrew psalm lyric meaning "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine" on her lower back.
By 2004, Christina Aguilera had 11 piercings removed with the exception of the one in her right nipple. She said she'd gotten the them as a release during bad times.
A satin thong that Christina Aguilera wore on the cover of Maxim magazine was purchased on eBay for $1,542.69.

Power Play
Just before the release of her album Stripped, MTV premieres the music video for "Dirrty". Critics call it overly sexual, but Aguilera tells PEOPLE it is more about power and control. "I may have been the naked-ass girl in the video," she says, "but if you look at it carefully, I'm also at the forefront. I'm not just some lame chick in a rap video; I'm in the power position, in complete command of everything around me."
