Noomi Rapace (pron.: /ˈnoʊmi rəˈpɑːs/ noh-mee rə-pahss; née Norén; born December 28, 1979) is a Swedish actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish/Danish film adaptations of the Millennium series: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. She is also known for playing Anna in Daisy Diamond (2007), Leena in Beyond(2010), Anna in Babycall (2011), Madame Simza in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), and the lead role of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in the Ridley Scott science fiction film Prometheus (2012).

Early life

Rapace was born in Hudiksvall, Sweden. Her mother, Nina Norén (born Kristina Norén; 1954) is a Swedish actress, and her father, Rogelio Durán (1953–2006), was a Spanish Flamenco singer from Badajoz. She has said that her father may have been of part Roma descent, and though she is "not sure if it is true," she has "always been interested in the culture." Rapace's sister, Særún Norén, is a photographer. Rapace has said she saw her father only occasionally before his death. At the age of five, she moved from her native Sweden to Flúðir, Iceland with her mother and stepfather. Two years later, she made her film debut in a minor role in In the Shadow of the Raven.

Career

At the age of seven, Rapace was given her first film role, which was a non-speaking part in the film Í skugga hrafnsins by Hrafn Gunnlaugsson. This experience made her decide to be an actress. She left home at age 15 and enrolled in a Stockholm theatre school.

In 1996, she made her television début playing the part of Lucinda Gonzales in the series Tre kronor. From 1998 to 1999, Rapace studied at Skara Skolscen. She has been engaged at Theater Plaza 2000–01, Orionteatern 2001, Teater Galeasen 2002, Stockholms stadsteater in 2003 as well as at the Royal Dramatic Theatre. In 2007, she won acclaim for her award-winning portrayal of a troubled teen mother in the Danish film Daisy Diamond, directed by Simon Staho. She won the two top film awards in Denmark (the Bodil and Robert prize) for Best Actress for her role in the film, which was also selected for the main competition at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. The film was criticized for the abuse a baby actor was subjected to during production.

In 2009 she played the role of Lisbeth Salander in the television adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, reprising this role in the sequels The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest (all three were originally screened as two-part telemovies, then re-edited for theatrical release). On September 11, 2010,Entertainment Weekly reported that Rapace had been cast in Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, her first English-speaking role, as a French Gypsy; the film was released in 2011. Her breakthrough in America is considered to be Ridley Scott's project called Prometheus where she played the leading role, a scientist named Elizabeth Shaw. She had met Scott for the first time following the release of the Millennium trilogy movies, at which point he expressed a willingness to work with her and encouraged her to improve her accent. Prometheus was released in June 2012. She will star alongside Rachel McAdams in Brian De Palma's erotic thriller Passion, which is the English-language remake of 2010's French psychological thriller Love Crime. They both appeared in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows but did not share scenes together.

As of June 2012, she is shooting Niels Arden Oplev's crime thriller Dead Man Down. In November 2012 she appeared as the lead role in a Rolling Stones video for the single Doom and Gloom.

Personal life

Rapace married Swedish actor Ola Norell in 2001. Together, they chose the surname Rapace after they were married; it means "bird of prey" in French and Italian. The couple has a son named Lev. In September 2010, the couple filed for divorce, taking effect during 2011.

Initially seen as the squeaky-clean girl-next-door, actress Jennifer Garner became a fan favorite after channeling an inner-strength she never suspected she possessed. Garners' early work consisted of several TV-movies, numerous series guest spots, a few minor turns in feature films like "Washington Square" (1997) and a recurring role on the hit drama, "Felicity" (The WB, 1998-2002). Her natural appeal began attracting attention with supporting roles opposite Ashton Kutcher in the slacker comedy, "Dude, Where's My Car?" (2000) and the big-budget WWII epic, "Pear Harbor" (2001), starring future husband Ben Affleck. But it was her breakthrough role as Sydney Bristow, the tough-as-nails super spy on the action adventure series "Alias" (ABC, 2002-06) that turned the previously waifish actress into a leading lady to be reckoned with. Attempting to parlay the success of "Alias" into film work as a female action hero, she played Affleck's femme fatale, Elektra, in the superhero adventure, "Daredevil" (2003). The gambit failed to pay off, however, as audiences found her far more endearing in softer romantic comedies like "13 Going on 30" (2004). Following her marriage to Affleck, Garner began appearing more often as an ensemble player, earning high marks with relatable, comedic turns in such films as "Juno" (2007), "Valentine's Day" (2010) and "Arthur" (2011). Exceptionally attractive and surprisingly versatile, Garner was one of Hollywood's most sough-after actresses.

The middle child in a family of three daughters, Jennifer Garner was born on April 17, 1972 to parents Patricia and Billy Jack Garner. Mom was an English professor, while dad was a chemical engineer who moved the family to West Virginia in 1976 after securing a job with Union Carbide. Four-year-old Garner was already a budding entertainer by then, her ballet lessons expanding to an interest in musical theater. Growing up, Garner was always involved in one stage production or another, either a dance recital, musical, or marching along with her saxophone in the school band. Despite her obvious love of performing, she seemed interested in following in her father's footsteps when Garner enrolled at Denison University in Ohio and began working towards a chemistry degree. Once she took her first acting class, however, she was hooked. She spent summers doing regional theater, declared a theater major, and furthered her drama studies at the National Theater Institute in Connecticut, where she trained with renowned combat choreographer David Chandler who found her dance background and natural athleticism perfect for stage fighting. In 1995, Garner moved to New York with her sights set on becoming a stage actress.

Within her first year, Garner landed a job as an understudy on Broadway and snared a small role in the period movie-of-the-week "Zoya" (NBC, 1995). The following year, the newcomer had unheard of success to write home about, with guest spots on three prime time dramas and two TV movies, including a starring role in the Hallmark Hall of Fame production "Harvest of Fire" (CBS), playing an Amish bride. The overwhelming response encouraged her to put her stage aspirations on hold and move to Los Angeles to pursue film and television work. Garner made her big screen debut in 1997, with small roles in Agnieszka Holland's adaptation of the Henry James classic "Washington Square" as well as Woody Allen's Academy Award-nominated "Deconstructing Harry." The popularity of cable TV's youthful dramas was tailor-made for 26-year-old Garner's cheerful yet sexy girl-next-door appeal, and Fox snapped her up for a starring role in the twenty-something drama "Significant Others" (1998). The show only lasted three episodes, but Garner had barely left the Fox lot when she was called back to co-star opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt in the "Party of Five" (Fox, 1994-2000) gamine's spin-off "The Time of Your Life" (1999-2000). Playing Romy, a would-be actress, offered Garner enviable screen time and some good storylines, but "The Time of Your Life" failed to find an audience and was cancelled after only one season.

Garner rebounded with a memorable turn on the WB's "Felicity" (WB, 1998-2002) as Hanna, the musician girlfriend of laid-back resident adviser N l (Scott Foley). The recurring role earned Garner some increased notice and also introduced her to her husband - she and Foley would marry in 2000 - though their characters' relationship did not last through 1999. She followed up with a pair of high-profile movie roles. "Dude, Where's My Car?" (2000) earned her lifelong recognition on the street from the frat crowd, but her role as a thoughtful military nurse in Michael Bay's epic World War II blockbuster "Pearl Harbor" (2001) - a film which starred her future husband, Affleck - was a bit more of a feather in her acting cap.

Despite several failed prime time outings, Garner took another chance on TV and found a career-making role with "Alias," in which she starred as a graduate student with a secret double life as a spy. The show instantly found a following, tapping into the era's Xena/Buffy "girl power" trend with a butt-kicking heroine able to juggle a part-time job, schoolwork, and CIA operative status with a wink and an endless array of outrageous disguises. Of course "Alias" drew an enormous male viewership as well, establishing Garner as one of the rare Hollywood talents equally embraced by both genders: women wanted to be her best friend, men wanted to be her boyfriend. Garner's down-to-earth, off-screen persona as an anti-diva only endeared her more to growing legions of fans. While "Alias" delivered steady ratings and its star racked up Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress - in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 - Garner continued to keep one foot in the film world. She had a brief part as a fashion model with an intriguing sideline in Steven Spielberg's stylish "Catch Me If You Can" (2002), before taking the lead in 2003 as martial artist and assassin Elektra, enemy and lover of Marvel Comics superhero "Daredevil" (Ben Affleck). The personality and action prowess that had made Garner a small screen star translated perfectly to the big screen, putting her up alongside top female box office heroines as Lucy Liu and Angelina Jolie.

Unfortunately, the budding movie star's high profile meant that her private life became of great interest to celebrity gossip magazines. As much as Garner tried to keep her personal life hidden, intruding press was blamed for adding stress to her marriage to Scott Foley. When the couple separated, the break-up made headlines. Speculation of a clandestine relationship with "Alias" co-star Michael Vartan was eventually confirmed and following the demise of that relationship, Garner successfully managed to keep a whirlwind romance with former co-star Ben Affleck under wraps almost until the couple announced their engagement in spring of 2005. Back at work, Garner continued her rise to A-list actress, starring in the harmlessly entertaining "13 Going on 30" (2004), a sort of girl power version of "Big" in which she impressively essayed the 30-year-old transformation of an awkward teenage girl. Just as Garner received a lavish amount of promotion from ABC for the fourth season of "Alias," the actress appeared in her highest profile movie to date, reprising her "Daredevil" character for spin-off film "Elektra" (2005). Once again, Garner's physical commitment to the role of the resurrected martial-artist/assassin-turned-protector was impressive, and she brought her understated acting prowess to the significantly darker film. Despite some fun action moments, however, the film's story was a jumble that was lost on most audiences and the film tanked spectacularly. In fact, Garner seemed to sense it was a turkey and, unlike with the film's predecessor, she did very little publicity for "Elektra," preferring instead to focus on her growing relationship with Affleck.

Garner made her directorial debut helming an episode of the fifth season of "Alias," during which she also maintained producer status. But the star's confirmed pregnancy - she and Affleck wed in a private island ceremony in June 2005 - threatened to significantly limit her action capabilities for what would ultimately be the show's final season. There were rumors that she had an exit from "Alias" planned with the series continuing on, but the show was officially canceled in November 2005 after declining ratings and several time slot changes around the ABC schedule. The network gave the star several months of hiatus to give birth to her first child, Violet Affleck, before resuming production of the series finale in the spring. In 2007, Garner picked up her film career with appearances in three very different projects. First she starred in the romantic comedy "Catch and Release" as a woman coping with the death of her fiancé with the help of his closest friends. The film was critically panned but did make a dent at the box office with support from the important "chick flick" demographic. With the international political thriller "The Kingdom" (2007), Garner was a strong addition to the ensemble cast which included Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper. The controversial fictionalized tale of U.S. investigators uncovering terrorist ties in Saudi Arabia met with mixed reviews, but did moderately well at the box office.

Garner's nearly-forgotten stage dreams were finally realized in November of 2007 when she debuted on Broadway opposite Kevin Kline in "Cyrano." She was applauded by The New York Times for lending the time-tested character of Roxane a "lively touch," "unaffected sprightliness," and "impeccable comic timing." The actress scored again in December with a supporting role, as a potential adoptive parent in the indie comedy "Juno" (2007), an unexpectedly poignant tale of a snarky pregnant teen (Ellen Page). The film opened to excellent responses at the Telluride and Toronto film festivals. In between juggling new projects, paparazzi invading her personal space and marriage, Garner gave birth to another child with Affleck, daughter Seraphina Rose in January 2009 and promoted her latest romantic comedy, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," co-starring Matthew McConaughey. The busy actress' next onscreen role was opposite British comedian Ricky Gervais in the romantic comedy, "The Invention of Lying" (2009).

As picture-perfect as Garner and Affleck's lives may have seemed to the average person, they too experienced the darker side of fame, with one incident in particular. In 2010, Steven Burky, a man who had reportedly been stalking Garner for eight years, was ruled insane and remanded to a California state mental hospital after violating a restraining order and pleading insanity in 2009. A Los Angeles judge ordered that Burky stay far away from Garner and her family for at least 10 years, should he ever be released from the facility. She continued with her film work, although more often as a supporting player in such projects as director Garry Marshall's star-studded comedy, "Valentine's Day" (2010). The following year she played a shrewd social climber in the remake of the comedy-drama, "Arthur" (2011), starring Russell Brand in the role originated by the incomparable Dudley Moore. That same year, Garner made her bow as a movie producer on the quirky comedy, "Butter" (2011), in which she played an ambitious Midwestern housewife competing in a prestigious local butter sculpting contest. In February 2012, she and Affleck welcomed their first son, Samuel.

Biography

Secured the 6th place in Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Year list by 2006, movie star George Clooney was next tapped to star in "Michael Clayton." Of thriller genre, which Tony Gilroy wrote and directing, the flick centers on a New York attorney who learns that after 15 years of cleaning up his high profile clients problems, they can come back to haunt you, in what will be the last and worst days of his career. Cast alongside Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton and Sydney Pollack, Clooney also was giving hand at producing. 

Kept busy with the principal photography of the project which was begun in January the same year, he gloriously picked the fruit of his hard work in film industry when his name was mentioned to bring home the award for Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture category through his film "Syriana" at the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards held in the 16th date of the same month and year. On March 6th the same year, Clooney scored another winning for the same movie when he gloriously nabbed the Supporting-Actor award at the 78th annual Academy Awards. "I didn't really work on anything (ie speech) because I thought there were four others who were going to win, so... strange." So the actor said on his winning. 

Born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, George Timothy Clooney is notable as an American film and television actor who probably best known for his former role in the long-running television drama "ER" (1994-1999). His father, Nick Clooney, was a TV newscaster of many years who hosted a talk show at Cincinnati and often invited George to the studio since he was 5 years old, which might become one reasonable factor influencing George to and can be a famous actor just the way he does. 

Got a few years education at Northern Kentucky University, George then dropped out and decided to study acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse. After sometimes, he came to acting for his very first time that was when his cousin, actor Migguel Ferrer, got him a small part in a feature film. In 1982 he moved to Los Angeles and spent a whole year worked hard to get a role while he slept in his friend's closet. This sacrifices worth George his first role in his first movie where he played together with Charlie Sheen. Though his first film stayed unreleased, still his acting could successfully catch producers' attention who soon got him for some contracts. 

The deals preceded George's first steady TV role in the medical sitcom "E/R," which production was based in Chicago, before within the next ten years he's been chosen to play in the popular NBC serial drama, "ER," primarily set in a teaching hospital's emergency room, the fictional County General Hospital based loosely off Cook County General, a real hospital on Division Street in Chicago, Illinois. Besides, he was also popular for playing the main role in several other movies, one of them was "Batman and Robin," a 1997 movie sequel to the 1989 "Batman" movie, "Batman Returns" (1992) and "Batman Forever" (1995) where he portrayed Batman and his co-star, Chris O'Donnell, returning as Robin. Another movie, for which he was well known was the 1998's "Out of Sight" that revolves around the relationship of a serial bank robber Jack Foley, played by George, with a U.S. marshal Karen Sisco, played by Jennifer Lopez, who is forced to share her car trunk during the bank robber's escape from a Florida prison. 

Next, George played in "Ocean's Eleven" (2001) that pictures him as Daniel Ocean who along with his pals plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos: the Bellagio, Mirage and MGM Grand, all of which store their money in a central, hi-tech vault. All three casinos are owned by Terry Benedict, the man currently dating Ocean's ex-wife, Tess Roberts. The robbers foil the elaborate security mechanisms to get to the vault with the casino's money, and escape by disguising themselves as the SWAT team. In early 2004, George went on playing "Ocean's Eleven" sequel entitled "Ocean's Twelve," released in the United States on December 10, 2004 starring in it also Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon. 

Besides those famous movies, George had also played in such movies, as "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" (1988); "From Dusk Till Dawn" (1996); "One Fine Day" (1996); "Three Kings" (1999); "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" (2000); "The Perfect Storm" (2000); "Welcome to Collinwood" (2002) and "Intolerable Cruelty" (2004). To add his achievement, in 2002 he made his debut as a film director producing "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," an adaptation of the implausible autobiography of groundbreaking TV producer Chuck Barris. 

George once gets married and forms a family with Talia Balsam whom he married on December 15, 1989 and divorced with in September 1993. Since then he had several romances with some women, including Celine Balitran, Renee Zellweger and Mariella Frostrup and he had in 2004 broke up with girlfriend Krista Allen. In June 2005, he decided to end his romance with English model/TV presenter Lisa Snowdon, claiming his "tendency to be a workaholic" and Snowdon's refusal to leave Britain have caused their romance has "nowhere to go" and thus both of them came up with the break up decision. Remained single for quite sometime, the hunk then gave his heart to former cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, whom he began dating in September 2007. Later that month, on date 21st, Clooney and Larson unfortunately were involved in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey. The motorcycle he was riding in with her was hit by a car. The accident had resulted in broken rib and road rash for Clooney and two broken toes for Larson. Both were treated and released from the Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, New Jersey. No charges were brought against him and the car's driver though. 

2005 saw a big leap of success for him in the movie industry. Beside starring in the political thriller 'Syriana', he went back helming a biopic for journalist Edward R. Murrow in 'Good Night And Good Luck'. Both films earned him not only a box-office success but also nominations from 78th Academy Awards. He became the first actor in Oscar history to receive nominations for both acting and directing at the same year. His role as Bob Barnes in 'Syriana' won him 'Best Supporting Actor', while the experience in 'Good Luck and Good Night' opened up a new path. The actor said that he would like to focus more on being a director for the role gave him a more secure place in the coming years, which acting won't possibly give. Seemingly enjoying the political setback, Clooney took the role of Captain Jacob 'Jake' Geismer who lived through World War II in 'The Good German', but it was the third sequel of Ocean adventure that brought him to the surface again. 'Ocean's Thirteen' (2007) reunited the members of the 'expert thieves' in a more complicated plot. 

After the con flick, he teamed up with Bourne trilogy writer Tony Gilroy to produce 'Michael Clayton' (2007). Clooney both starred as the title role and produced the film. He had completed 'Leatherheads' that also stars Renee Zellweger and will release it simultaneously with 'Burn After Reading' in 2008.
